Strong Field Of ‘Renegades’ Bearing Down On Atomic, “Buckeye Nationals”, This Weekend!

(Middlebourne, WV) A talented roster of Eastern United States best open wheel modifieds are putting the finishing touches on their race cars in anticipation for a huge two day weekend of racing action at the Atomic Speedway in Chillicothe, Ohio starting tomorrow night, Friday May 13th. The Inaugural “Buckeye Nationals” awaits the Renegades of Dirt as they battle it out for $5,000 to win.

The Renegades of Dirt Modified Tour is bearing down for their first ever visit to the speedway and the largest ‘Buckeye State’ purse in tour history. Johnny Scott of Las Cruces, NM currently leads the Renegades of Dirt standings but defending ‘North’ champion, Jacob Hawkins sits solidly in second. The rest of the field readies for their first of two points opportunities towards earning a spot in the “ELITE 11” of the new 2016 Renegade of Dirt “Championship Series.”

New York native, Rich Michael Jr., Ohio’s own, Jesse Wisecarver, Stormy Scott, Kevin Miller, and Justin Hart all sit at 325 points while Shon Flanary, Kyle Strickler, John Burdette, KC Burdette, Nick Corbitt, DJ Cline, Taylor Cook, and Joel Watson will seek spots in the top eleven all with 300 points. The “FAST 15” round will include this weekends events as well as the 5th Annual “Let It Ride 55” at the Tyler County Speedway on May 29th. Once the month of May concludes the top eleven points racers will earn a spot inside the “ELITE 11” round.

Meanwhile, the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will headline the action in the largest event ever at the Atomic Speedway as they duel for a $50,000 winners payday. The best of the best will make the trek to the 3/8 mile former KC-Raceway in both divisions as they go after the large loot put up for grabs by speedway promoter Brad McCown.

The modified portion of the event will kick off on Friday May 13th with group time trials and preliminary heat races for the Renegades of Dirt. On Saturday May 14th the tour will return with last chance events to set the final starting field for the evenings A-main. To boot, on Saturday’s docket is a “10 Not In” race that features a $500 to win / $100 to start non-qualifier style event for the top ten cars that fail to transfer for Saturday’s finale.

The $5,000 to win, 40 Lap, “Buckeye Nationals” will start twenty cars unless over sixty cars participate in the event then the field will expand to twenty four a-main starters. Although we are still a day away from competitive action the track activity gets underway this evening as they host an open practice night for all divisions. Additionally, if you are looking for some post race fun you can join fans tomorrow night at 10pm for the Seth Overly Band.

“Last weekends “Dan Reno” modified special was one of the best you will ever see, so the fans should be very excited to see the Renegades of Dirt coming to town this weekend to be part of this huge event with the Lucas Oil Late Model Series” stated McCown. “We are just one day from the largest event in Atomic Speedway history so we are pretty excited. We can’t wait to welcome the countries best fans and racers” added McCown.

The event will carry a modified entry of just $50 dollars for the weekend. Race teams can stay up to date on the latest track and race news at www.atomicspeedway.net. It is noted that the Renegades of Dirt will be running under the AMRA 2016 tire rules and sanction rule guidelines. Drivers will be eligible to receive AMRA points during the weekend.
