Johnny Scott Goes Back To Back, Hawkins Wins $10,101 Cash Prize!

(Middlebourne, WV) A scenic trip up I-77 and through the heart of Amish country in Orrville,OH was the destination this evening for the last and final night of racing action for the Renegades of Dirt Modified Tour “Heritage 101” weekend swing. Wayne County Speedway would welcome a pair of traveling series in the Artic Cat All-Star Sprints as well as our “beasts of the east” open wheel modifieds.

Officials from the series kicked off the night thanking all weekend speedways and S & P Harley Davidson of Williamstown, WV. The new motorcycle was on scene as racers made their way into the pit area for the evenings action. The evident signs of attrition took it’s toll as the car count trimmed down for the final night but a solid field from several states once again signed in to compete for the evenings $1,101 to win main event.

When time trials got under way a familiar face topped the charts by setting a new track record in the process at an 18.027, Fairmont, WV’s, Jacob Hawkins. Stormy Scott and Rich Michael would finish second and third respectively.

Next on the docket was a pair of heat races for the Renegades of Dirt presented by Arizona Sport Shirts. Jacob Hawkins would take the pole position and race to victory with Rich Michael and Jesse Wisecarver battling side by side throughout heat #1. Even after a great first heat it was the second that wowed. Brothers Stormy and Johnny Scott put on an absolute show sharing the lead and battling back and forth the entire race with Johnny edging out Stormy at the line.

Jacob Hawkins even won the redraw snatching the pole spot while Johnny Scott drew the outside pole. Fitting as the duo entered the main event separated by just thirteen points. When the green waved for the finale feature of the weekend it was Hawkins winning the hole shot on the 3/8’s long straight away. Johnny Scott would quickly reel him in however and the duo dueled side by side for nearly a dozen laps.

Last night’s feature winner, Scott, finally found the fastest line on the speedway to take a lead over Hawkins throughout the rest of the main event. His victory gave him back to back Renegade of Dirt Modified Tour wins and bolsters his tour average to a stellar two of three. Stormy Scott would go on to finish third with Rich Michael Jr. fourth and DJ Cline rounding out the top five.

Meanwhile while Scott was climbing from the car in victory lane it was Jacob Hawkins who would pass a lengthy tech and make his way to the front stretch for the presentation of the cash or motorcycle presented by S&P Harley-Davidson of Williamstown West Virginia. After announcer Dustin Jarrett laid out his choices it was met with a pause and then the excitement of Hawkins hoisting the briefcase full of cash.

“We’ll as much as I would love to ride this Harley back to West Virginia I’m happy to announce me and my wife have a new baby on the way so I have to take the cash this time” stated Hawkins. “I have to thank so many people who make this happen with 2Brothers Motorsports, the race fans and tracks, Genesis Shocks, Fastshafts, the whole crew and everyone else who’s apart of this great team” concluded Hawkins. Jacob Hawkins joins Dave Hess, Derek Groomer, Steve Arpin, Chad Kinder as winners of the “Heritage 101” while running as an open wheel show.

In all this weekend nearly fifty unique race teams competed with the tour during the three events including a total of ten different states being represented. Tyler County Speedway kicked off the weekend with Jacob Hawkins taking the feature win while Johnny Scott would sweep the remaining main events at Skyline Speedway and Wayne County Speedway.

The tour will next see action at Atomic Speedway in Chillicothe, OH where Brad McCown will be paying up the largest purse in speedway history a record $50,000 to win for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series while the Renegades of Dirt will battle for a very healthy $5,000 to win.
